'It's been a few days since I decided to join Pandora and Orion at this school, and surprisingly, not much has happened. Not that I'm complaining, but I can't help but wonder why I was expecting some monster attack on our way,' Uni pondered while limping along behind his companions.
Despite his still evident need for the Jingu to walk, Uni noticed that his condition had improved since the last few days. He marveled at his rapid healing, considering he had multiple fractured and broken bones. 'Maybe it's because of that marshmallow I had to eat... Speaking of food, I'm curious about where Orion gets that delicious stuff. I've never tasted anything so good in my life.'
On the first day of their journey, Uni accompanied Orion and Pandora to where they kept their belongings, which essentially amounted to a single suitcase. To Uni's surprise, when he opened the suitcase, he was met with a pitch-black void. Perplexed, he sought clarification from Orion, who remained silent and simply reached into the void as if grabbing something. Within seconds, Orion pulled out three packs of what looked like astronaut food and distributed them.
Examining the pack, Uni found no labels or pictures to indicate what it contained, just plain white packaging. Observing Pandora and Orion effortlessly tearing open the pack like a bag of chips and munching on small black dots, Uni cautiously followed suit. He hesitantly placed one of the dots on his tongue.
That day, Uni tasted something he had never experienced before. As soon as the tiny dot touched his taste buds, an explosion of flavor erupted in his mouth. The taste was indescribably divine, sending waves of pleasure through his entire being. His eyes widened in awe, and he couldn't help but let out a gasp of sheer delight.
This one tiny dot had single-handedly become his new obsession. The flavor was so incredibly, mind-blowingly good that he almost began to tear up with joy. Without a second to think, he scuffed the whole thing down, and for the first time in his life he felt full.
'Just thinking about it is making me drool. Too bad I can only have one pack a day. Apparently it's called a Dragon fruit and they're hard to come by and so we have to ration them.' he mused to himself, lost in thought. However, his reverie was interrupted by Orion's voice calling out.
"Hey kid, welcome to Kolsa." The words hung in the air as Uni's gaze fell upon a breathtaking view of the Forest, with lush and rich nature stretching for many, many miles. But to his confusion, he had been expecting a city with houses and other establishments, yet there was nothing of the sort. Glancing down at Uni and noticing his bewilderment, Orion chuckled to himself before stepping forward with Pandora and vanishing into thin air.
"What the hell... Hey guys, where are you?" Uni called out, trying to find them. And then, right in front of him, he saw a hand floating in mid-air, gesturing for him to grab on. Puzzled, Uni scratched his head before chuckling, "Funny enough, I don't think this is the craziest thing I've seen this week." With cautious curiosity, he reached out and held the hand.
At that moment, Uni was pulled by the hand into something he was not expecting...
IInstantly, Uni was greeted with the sight of a city that he had only imagined in his wildest dreams. It looked like a scene ripped straight out of a sci-fi novel. The landscape was dotted with numerous futuristic houses and establishments, but what truly captured his attention was the colossal building looming in the distance. It seemed as tall as the ice monstrosity he encountered in the cave, but this castle-like structure was easily three times larger. Uni realized that he was standing on top of a hill, granting him a breathtaking view of the entire city sprawled out for miles below.
The magnificent vista held Uni spellbound for a few moments until he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. Turning to his left, he saw Pandora with a soft grin. "Magnificent, isn't it? But we have to keep going; the school isn't too far from here... We can talk more about what's going to happen when we get there, so let's go."
Uni nodded in agreement, reluctantly tearing his gaze away from the mesmerizing city. As they descended the hill, the breathtaking aerial view transformed into a ground-level perspective. Uni now had the chance to observe the city's intricate details up close. He walked along the sidewalk, marveling at the futuristic cars zooming up and down the roads, while some people rode on horses—an interesting blend of modernity and tradition.
The city's architecture was a fusion of sleek, sleek lines and graceful curves, making it seem like a living work of art. Vibrant holographic displays adorned the facades of buildings, displaying vivid scenes that added to the city's allure. The streets were bustling with activity as people from diverse backgrounds went about their daily lives, giving the city an air of vibrant energy.
As Uni continued on, he noticed the harmonious coexistence of technology and nature. Tall, high-tech buildings coexisted harmoniously with lush greenery and well-tended parks, creating a balance between urbanization and environmental preservation.Looking above, Uni could even spot people flying by, some donning a pair of beautiful white wings, making them seem like Angel incarnates, while others gracefully flew without wings. He was completely hypnotized by this otherworldly environment, feeling like a kid who had just stepped into an amusement park for the first time. 'I could die right now and I'd be satisfied. To think I could've gone my whole life without seeing things like this... without experiencing the world!'
As Uni was fully absorbed in the breathtaking scene, he unfortunately wasn't paying attention to his surroundings and ended up bumping into someone. Struggling to move properly due to his injuries, Uni lost his balance and started to fall back, but luckily, Orion was quick to catch him. After regaining his bearings, Uni stood up and promptly apologized to the person he had collided with.
Glancing at the guy, Uni noticed that he seemed to be around the same age. The man had his hair tied back with some strands falling in front of his face. Before Uni could analyze him further, the man spoke with an air of coldness.
"Unless you wanna die, don't ever speak to me again..." With those harsh words, the man continued walking, throwing disdainful glances at Orion and Pandora before scoffing at them.
Watching the mysterious man walk away, Uni felt a sense of disappointment creeping in. '...I knew it was too good to be true...' he silently cursedLooking above, Uni could even spot people flying by, some donning a pair of beautiful white wings, making them seem like Angel incarnates, while others gracefully flew without wings. As the initial euphoria waned, Uni couldn't shake the feeling that there was much more to Kolsa than met the eye.
