As the group moved forward, the strong breeze near the archway became less and less until It was almost nonexistent. The once dark and foreboding hallways were now brightly lit, with torches lining both sides of the passage, illuminating their path.
As he followed Orion and Pandora down the passageway, he finally had some time to really process something that happened earlier. 'Before the ground erupted on me in the orphanage, something strange appeared in front of me... What was it? It looked like a translucent tablet... It mentioned that the Pantheon is now accessible or something... But the strangest part was that it said "welcome to the Mortal gods''... What does that mean?' Uni pondered.
Just as he was lost in contemplation, Uni felt a tap on his shoulder, bringing him back to the present. Pandora's question caught him off guard. "So Uni, I understand you may not know what a Grade C Leviathan is, but that still doesn't explain why or how you ended up down here in the first place," she inquired, her tone inquisitive.
Almost instinctively, Uni began to answer, but he quickly held himself back. 'Should I tell her about that strange cloud place and Wukong? Despite their help, I probably shouldn't reveal too much,' he thought, deciding to share only the essential details.
"Well actually, earlier I was at the orphanage in my room, when some strange earthquake happened and I fell through the floor..." Uni cautiously replied, hoping it would suffice. As Pandora heard his response, she continued walking without saying a word, but her mind was buzzing with thoughts. cautiously replied, hoping it would suffice. As Pandora heard his response, she continued walking without saying a word, but her mind was buzzing with thoughts.. 'Earthquake huh... Is he lying? Me and Orion did see some rubble and a hole in the ceiling on our way here, but that wasn't much for an Earthquake...' Suspicious on whether Uni was hiding something or not, Pandora caught up with Orion and began talking to him.
"Orion, doesn't this kid's story sound a little strange? He claimed there was an earthquake, but we should've been able to feel it too. And something doesn't add up; he doesn't seem to have been here long... though he did mention being in an orphanage, which might explain his lack of knowledge about the Hierarchy," she mused, her brow furrowing with skepticism.
Orion nodded in agreement, sharing Pandora's doubts. "It's not only that, but you see the thing he's using as a cane.... Well it's the Jingu..." As Orion said this, Pandora stared back at him with fierce eyes, trying to maintain her composure and not draw Uni's attention. "What... are you talking about? You know why that's impossible, right?"
Meeting her gaze firmly, Orion replied, "Believe me, I understand how impossible it seems, even to myself. But there's no mistaking it... that's the Jingu. I can feel it." Pandora let out a resigned sigh Just like that continued to walk in silence. Deciding to avoid further discussion for the moment, she continued walking in silence, pondering the perplexing turn of events.
Meanwhile, Uni, who trailed behind them, observed the exchange between Orion and Pandora, his face displaying a blank expression. 'They were definitely talking about me, weren't they? Damn it, I guess she didn't buy what I said,' he thought, feeling a bit uneasy. Unsure of how to proceed, Uni chose to remain quiet, keeping his guard slightly up.
After a while more of walking, they were finally greeted by a glimmer of natural light in the distance, indicating the entrance of the cave was near. The group moved on, the darkness slowly giving way to the brightness outside.
At first, Uni felt a strong impulse to rush out into the sunlight, but he quickly realized that would be unwise. Instead, he continued limping forward until he finally took a step outside, fully embracing the warmth of the sun and soaking in as much vitamin D as he could. 'Not too long ago I was in a frost dungeon, fighting a monster half the size of a skyscraper... and before that, I was In the clouds talking to a monkey in armor... it just feels good to be in the sun again.'
However, as the sunlight bathed him, Uni's mind began to ponder the uncertain path that lay ahead. He knew that Pandora and Orion, despite their invaluable help, had no obligation to assist him further. Moreover, today was the day he had to leave the orphanage anyway. That's when Uni turned to them and said, "Well I guess this is where we say goodbye.... I'm so grateful for you guys back there, without you I literally would've died.. so thank you and I'll be on my way." With those words, he turned and started walking into the forest, feeling lost and wondering where he would find a place to call home. Though the orphanage had provided meals, he now had to resort to scavenging in the woods for dinner.
Lost in thought about his uncertain future, Uni suddenly heard Orion calling out to him, breaking the silence of the forest.
"Hey, Kid! Do you even know where you're going?" Orion inquired, Nervously, Uni replied, "Uhm... Well, I was just thinking of walking until I found a place where I could possibly set up camp."
Orion couldn't help but chuckle mischievously in response and offered an alternative, "Well, good luck trying to find food around here. Anything for the next few miles is poisonous to humans, so if you want to try your luck, go ahead... But if you don't want to be reckless, there is another option." With a silent gaze, Uni gestured to Orion to continue what he was saying.
"You could come back with us, as we are the headmasters at a school nearby, and if you accept our offer, we wouldn't mind having you stay in one of our school dorms. You'll get free meals whenever you want, fresh clothes, unlimited showers, and comfortable beds... all you have to do is attend our school."
The offer hung in the air like a dark cloud. Uni's mind raced, torn between distrust and hope. The temptation of security and a chance at a new life clashed with his fear of the unknown, 'These people don't even know me, for him to offer something like that seems like too much, and the condition seems too easy... they must have a hidden motive..' Lost in his thoughts, Uni glanced back at the dense forest behind him. The idea of venturing out there alone was overwhelming. 'I wouldn't have the slightest idea of what to do' he realized, a tinge of frustration in his voice. 'I don't even know how to light a fire... you'd think living in a rundown orphanage would give you some clues on how to survive, but I guess not."
he knew he couldn't survive out in the wild on his own. The idea of venturing into the forest with no knowledge of survival skills was daunting, and he realized that pride alone couldn't sustain him.
Reluctantly, he made his decision, looking back at the forest one last time before turning to Orion. "Alright," he said, his voice steadier now, "I'll accept your offer."
Orion and Pandora exchanged a knowing look, then Orion mysteriously smiled and said, "Well then let's go."
